JOAN WIBERG
Joan Wiberg enjoys painting from her immediate environment, which is currently the beautiful terrain of Fauquier County, Virginia and its surrounds. The trees, fields, animals and structures provide endless subject matter for study. Working in oil, she often paints “plein air” and works from these studies afterwards. She has a recognizable style that features bold line and vivid color, and applies this to her paintings of settings in shifting daylight.
Joan Wiberg is a lifelong Virginia resident. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University until 1985, earning a BFA in painting and printmaking. In 1988 she earned a BS in Art Education from the University of Maryland and completed her education in 2008, earning a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from VCU. Joan taught art to children in both private and public schools for over 20 years before deciding to pursue art making full time. Her linoleum prints and paintings have been exhibited locally, and she maintains a shop online. She works in her studio on her property in Fauquier County, where she lives with her husband.
