Christopher Stephens lives in Front Royal, Virginia, where he paints the Shenandoah Valley landscape. Chris works on site, painting in oils, and occasionally in pastels. He has always framed his work, and the frames are designed to work integrally with the paintings. Many of them feature an illusionistic raised panel inner frame designed to heighten the viewers awareness of painted three-dimensional space. Chris has been a Middle Street Gallery member since 1990.

The Middle Street Gallery's mission is to support quality and innovation in the arts, to promote the exposure, exhibition and sale of its members' work, and to provide opportunities for the interaction between artists and the community in a regional, rural setting.
