Ellen Doyle began her jewelry career by taking night classes at her local college, eventually earning a Gemologist degree.  Most of her techniques are self-taught, utilizing lapidary journals, great textbooks, classes available at most gem shows and that greatest teacher of all:  trial and error.

What started out as a hobby grew into a small business at the urging of family and friends, who were the benefactors of all her efforts. 

Ellen's works are distinctly one of a kind, being lead by the beauty in stones.  These are either formed by her or purchased from Lapidaries across the country. 

Along with showing in small boutiques in most locations where we lived, Ellen has participated in several auctions for charitable fund raising events in the States and Canada.

After moving many times across this country and Canada, Ellen and her husband, Don have finally 'come home' to Virginia.

 

The Middle Street Gallery's mission is to support quality and innovation in the arts, to promote the exposure, exhibition and sale of its members' work, and to provide opportunities for the interaction between artists and the community in a regional, rural setting.
